How to Build Emotional Resilience? Importance & Benefit of building Resilience.

Life isn’t constantly easy. It is full of struggles. Change, in our personal and professional lives, doesn’t appear to be vanishing. There always seems to be something making us concerned. Maintaining calm and developing Resiliency is very critical.

Emotional resilience is when you can calm your raging mind after encountering an unpredictable situation. It is intrinsic motivation, an inner strength by which we can handle ourselves through all the downsides of life. The word ‘resilience’ originates from the Latin word ‘resilio’ that explains ‘to bounce back’ or rebound.

Emotional resilience is an art of living that is wrapped with self-belief, self-compassion, and improved consciousness. It is the way through which we allow ourselves to see difficulties as ‘temporary’ and keep growing stronger through the pain and difficulties.

A basic aspect of building emotional resilience is accepting the reality that everything is interlinked and unpredictable at the same time. For example, building resilience at work would also make you resilient in your relationships, and vice versa.

Here are 5 tips to build your emotional resilience & help yourself when going through tough times:

Self-Awareness

The ability to control our own feelings, internal conflicts, and perception of the world is termed Self Awareness. Through self-awareness, we get a deeper knowledge of how feelings contribute to our actions. Rather than looking for help outside, or criticizing others for our problems, self-awareness gives us the strength to look for solutions within us. By making us more aware of our inner self, it helps us to become more capable and conscious.

Emotional Control

People with higher levels of emotional and self-control can redirect and manage their feelings. They are less likely to be overwhelmed by stress or let it influence their lives. They think twice before taking any action and won’t climb fast into settling.

Persistence

Resilience helps a person increase their compliance and commitment to keep striving. Whether dealing with outside tension or managing internal conflicts, perseverance keeps the inner strength alive.

Flexible Thinking

Flexible thinking is an important aspect of mental health that contributes to the personal and professional achievement of any human being.

It is a dominant social skill that includes adjustability, rationality, happiness, and positive thinking. A person who has developed these skills through life experiences will be more emotionally resilient and can stay well-balanced in life.

Interpersonal Relations

Having healthy personal relationships is both an end result and a requisite for emotional resilience. If we have the power to build healthy interpersonal bonds at the personal or professional level, we have already taken one step ahead for a resilient life. We are social animals, and being encircled by people gives us the energy to overcome difficulties, survive them, and grow from them. For building emotional resilience in a broader context, we must have the ability to enhance our living interpersonal relationships and be open in developing new skills.

Why is building Resilience important?

When we are in a sensitive and unpredictable situation where we sense as if things are not in our control, it can be very challenging to find our stability or paddle against the wave, or, overcome and relive our life.

During challenging or stressful times, it is important for many reasons - it helps us to have emotional balance in our lives, and can also work as a shield in the development of some mental health struggles and problems and also it allows us to develop mechanisms for protection against events that could be overwhelming.

The benefits of Resilience:

The benefits of resiliency are many.

When faced with a challenge, resilience pushes us to gain knowledge, develop our skills, and value our talents to overcome and flourish.

With resilience, we can face struggles and rely on our strengths and succeed. Maybe things won’t turn out exactly the way we would like, but resilience will give us the strength to accept the outcome and move forward positively.

Moving ahead

Life will knock you down. However, it’s up to you whether or not to waste your time. Whatever you do, don’t give up. Wipe away the tears, get up and proceed to move forward. Your inner strength is the calm force within you that knows when to act and gives you the power to do so. Listen to it and believe that, no matter what follows, you’ve got this.

Resilience can differ from one person to the other, but mental strength and proven practical tactics can mean we can, not only survive, but grow, in the face of adversity.

What is MOST Important - Money, Love, Relationships, Or Peace Of Mind?

As human beings, we go through a lot of things in life. Be it physically or mentally or financially or emotionally, one sees different phases of life from these aspects. Every aspect of it has its own side which we all have been aware of. People work hard throughout their lives to achieve different milestones. For some, money is the milestone, for some love is the milestone, for some maintaining relationships & for some just surviving. But did you know there are some people who work hard to achieve something which is common among these all milestones & it’s that valuable? It is none other than a ‘Peaceful Mind’.

In today’s time, especially after experiencing different phases just wish to have a peaceful mind. For that, people are ready to pay hefty amounts to achieve that peace. Either by taking a vacation or shifting away from a toxic atmosphere, everyone wants to escape from the chaos to have a peaceful mind. In anyways, it is never wrong to take these actions because all you are doing is for your peace of mind. Lately, people have started accepting & acknowledging the importance of a peaceful mind. But it all starts with different emotional, financial & social factors which disturbs it & we all feel to get away from it just for the sake of our peace of mind.

Some of you might be perplexed by the thought of what is more important - money, love, relationships, or peace of mind?

Let’s see each of the aspects

Money - We all have heard about - “Health is Wealth”. If there’s a peaceful mind, that is the biggest wealth for an individual because it all starts from there. The journey of being a successful person starts with a peaceful mind. Once the mind finds its peace, the body also responds positively to the actions. But many people focus on making more & more money. For that, they are ready to compromise with a bad boss, toxic work environment & enormous amount of work pressure. No doubt, the initial period seems more thrilling but eventually after earning a good chunk a person ends up paying that amount to find peace of mind.

There is no limit of needs when it comes to money, for some 1000 is enough while for some 1 Cr is insufficient. It depends on a person & Their lifestyle how they get acquainted with what they earn. A person earning millions & billions or a person earning a meager amount - both would be worried about money which would cause sleep deprivation, disturbed lifestyle & wrong decisions. But a peaceful mind can let a person be alert & well decisive about money.

Love & Relationship - A peaceful mind is the most essential aspect when it comes to relationships. We have come across people who come out of relationships just because their peace of mind was affected. Not just that, many young people have been moving away from their families just because they experience a toxic atmosphere that disturbs their peace of mind. When a person’s mind is at peace, they can distinguish between good/bad and right/wrong. Some people claim being single is best, some claim being with someone is best. People eventually share their views where they find their peace of mind because no matter if they are alone or with someone, most of them prefer a peaceful mind first.

You still might feel why a peaceful mind is so important over money, love & relationships. Have you seen ‘Dear Zindagi’ starring Alia Bhatt? This movie shows how a person like her despite being surrounded with talent, money, work, love & relationship found it challenging in managing it all. It’s because she wasn’t able to make peace with the things they were coming around until she came across a counselor who helps her in decluttering things & ways to achieve peace of mind.

But there are some ways you can do self-help to lead and live a peaceful mind:
  • Prioritize your Work, make a schedule & stay organized.
  • Let go of things you can’t control or manage.
  • Exercise, relax & meditate
  • Listen to music, get involved with nature.
  • Live in the moment, don’t take yourself seriously.
  • Speak your heart out, connect with people.
  • Socialize & share a laugh.
  • Ignore people who share negative vibes or who let you down.
  • Be kind & don’t compare yourself with anyone.
  • Take good sleep
While going through this blog, some of you could relate to it while some of you have noticed these stances in your friend’s case or people around you. There might be some who are actually going through one but never gave a thought to sort it out. Here you can try to segregate your things & put them in order to achieve your peaceful mind.

Remember a peaceful mind comes above all other factors & aspects, so never be shy in giving that a priority. Peaceful minds help us in living fulfilling lives. In case you feel messed up with problems & unable to find solutions to them, a counselor or mental wellness coach is always there for you to guide and help you achieve a peaceful mind.

Ways to Get Motivated for People Going Through Depression.

Depression is a mental health state that affects thinking, energy, feelings, and behavior. It is a very common mental health condition that affects 1 in 10 people at any point in time.

Depression can drain out your motivation to perform even the simplest of tasks. Studies say depressed people have a tough time finding the motivation to go to the office, hang out with friends, or even have food.

Signs of depression can range from mild to severe. It can be chronic or can happen as a one-time event caused by traumatic life issues such as a death in the family, breakup, or financial crisis.

Sign & Symptoms of depression include:
  • reduced interest in normally pleasurable activities
  • insomnia or disturbance in sleep pattern
  • inadequate self-image
  • anxiety, impatience, or lack of energy and weakness
  • difficulty in focusing and attending to usual tasks
Here are a few tactics for motivating yourself when you're depressed:

Set small, simple goals.

Set small, easy goals. If the idea of doing something seems terrifying, start with a low-key. Set small and easy goals. As you meet these goals, you can continue adding more on top of them until you finally achieve all of your goals.

Practice self-compassion.

If you hit yourself up for being so unproductive and slow, you're going to keep yourself feeling like crap and thus, paralyzed. Rather try using some encouraging words you might use for a friend or loved one.

Imagine how you'll feel after the task.

Getting in the shower, going for a walk, preparing a meal, or hanging out with a buddy seems like a very serious task if you focus on the energy involved. People who are depressed usually have low self-efficacy, which means they have low confidence in their ability to do tasks. As such, they feel overwhelmed and avoid doing such tasks. Have low expectations for yourself within the task, and imagine how you feel after the task rather than during.

Ask for support and help.

Some of us have difficulty in holding ourselves accountable at the best of times. Disclose to someone you trust, and ask for their help. Ask your buddy to hold you to your promise. Ask your partner to join you in a Zumba class. Schedule a counseling appointment, or have a Spa Session.

Recognize your courage for moving out of your comfort zone.

As painful as it is, depression can become content in a devil you know kind of way. You know the pain, you're in the pain, you can predict that tomorrow will be the same. The thought of moving out of this comfort zone can be pretty anxiety-provoking.

Steven Hayes, a psychologist whose practice I value, said, "If you keep doing what you've always done, you're going to get what you've always gotten."

Socialize more often

Embrace positive relationships, encourage people to socialize with you when you feel up for it, and keep suggesting a chance. Helping someone in need will surely enhance your mood and encourage you to get out of bed the next day. Plan a house party with your colleagues or go for dinner with your team or family or friends.

Depression and motivation

Lack of motivation is a symbol of depression, but the cause is not definite. For example, you may lack motivation if you’re having problems coping with an issue in your life or feeling something that affects your self-confidence.

If depression is subject to your lack of motivation, you may find that your level of motivation is linked to how depressed you’re feeling. If you or a loved one is feeling a lack of motivation due to depression, there are ways to improve the situation.

So, if you are able to do something different, compliment yourself. There's a big chance whatever you're experiencing may come with anxiety because anxiety brings uncertainty. It may be telling you you're walking out of the usual routine of depression, so recognize your courage and try to bring such experiences forward in your journey.

When to seek help

If you or a loved one is experiencing depression, and have trouble feeling motivated and normal. Counseling may help. If your mood and motivational level don’t get better, it's time to talk to a mental wellness coach.

If you or any loved one are struggling to get motivation while going through depression, get support. ReLive-Because YOU Matter can help you talk through any tough feelings you're dealing with.

What Do Emotions Mean? How to identify your emotions.

How are you feeling right now? As you start reading this, Do you feel curious? Expecting that you'll get to know about yourself? Are you excited about your weekend plans or broken because you just went through heartbreak?

Emotions like these are just a part of human nature. They help us to be aware of what we're feeling and help us know how to respond.

We understand our emotions from the time we're kids. Children react to their emotions with facial expressions or with actions like laughing, touching, or crying. They feel and show emotions, but they can't yet express their emotion in words or say what they are feeling & why they are Feeling so.

As we grow up, we are more skilled in understanding emotions. Instead of just reacting as little kids do, we can recognize what we see and feel and can express it in words and expressions. With time we get to know what we are feeling and why. This skill is called emotional awareness. It is the first step towards building emotional intelligence that can help people succeed in life.

Here are some basic ideas about emotions:

Emotions come and go. Most of us feel many emotions throughout the day. Some last just a few moments. Others might stay to get in the mood.

There are no good or bad emotions, but there are always good or bad ways of expressing them. Knowing how to express emotions in a subtle way is an excellent skill, managing and controlling emotions that is built on a basis of being able to understand emotions.

Emotions can be strong, mild, or anywhere in between. The power of emotion can depend on the situation and the person.

Let’s understand the differences between Emotions & Moods.

In common language, people often use the terms "emotions" and "moods" Interchangeably, but psychologists showed differences between the two. How do they differ? An emotion is normally quite short-lived, but strong. Emotions are also likely to have a clear and identifiable cause.

For example, after discussing with a friend about the new Netflix series that you wanted to watch but before that, they gave you a spoiler, you might feel angry or bad for a short period.

A mood, on the other hand, is usually milder than an emotion, but longer-lasting. In many cases, it can be tough to know the specific reason for a mood. For example, you might find yourself feeling sad or disturbed for several days without any clear, identifiable reason.

If you've been struggling with frequent mood swings or stressful emotions, talk to a mental wellness coach about your concerns. They can offer help, guidance, and solutions that can assist you to get back to feeling your best.

How To Identify Your Emotions

Understanding what emotions mean and how it is different from mood, your next step is to understand and identify those emotions. You can simply start by asking yourself which will help you identify the emotion of the idea that has affected you. Some questions to ask include:

  • What am I thinking now?
  • What are my thoughts telling me?
  • What ideas or judgments have I made, are they valid?
  • What is that I really want?
The answers to these questions are the key to using your emotions in your life goals, rather than letting your emotions manage you.

Usually, your body reactions suggest important signs of the nature of your emotional state. If your face starts to get warm while you are talking with someone, you may be embarrassed. If you get butterflies in your belly, maybe you are worried or anxious. If you feel excited, there is a smile on your face, or maybe happy. If your head pounds, your heart races, and you feel increasingly anxious and hot, you are angry. However, if you feel tense, your heart is pounding, your palms are sweating, and you feel cold, you are scared rather than angry.

Take time to know your emotions better. Just notice how you feel. Accept how you feel without judging yourself. Show yourself some kindness. Tell yourself that all your emotions are normal. But how you manage and act on emotions matters a lot. When you know your emotions, you are advanced in making wise decisions about how to control and act no matter what you're thinking.

If you have emotions that feel stressful or overwhelming, get support. ReLive-Because YOU Matter can help you talk through any tough feelings you're dealing with.

Self - Confidence - A booster to a Peaceful Mind

Confidence is an important aspect of your personality and life. It’s a state of mind which makes you believe in yourself, and the way you feel about yourself influences the peace of mind and also makes life either more or less stressful. Everyone will tell you that with confidence you can attain success but not many will tell you how to strengthen your confidence. It’s not something that can be learned and implemented within a day. It’s something that needs to be learned, practiced, and mastered just like any other skill every single day.

Self-confidence is most needed in a doubtful situation about something because when you are positive you are already confident. However, the degree of certainty differs from person to person, and also the same methods might work better for someone than others.

For example, if you trust your ability to respond to any situation or whatever happens in your life, then you will be more likely to see tough situations as an opportunity to grow instead of as a warning or challenge; conversely, if you don’t trust your own ability to face and overcome difficult situations, you will be more likely to see any adverse situations as warning and stress-provoking.

There are various things you can do to increase your self-confidence and self-esteem and are also very effective to achieve a peaceful mindset. This can work in multiple ways to help you feel more empowered in your life and build flexibility.

Here are easy, effective tips to boost your confidence and help you in having a peaceful mind.

Accept yourself for who you are: Knowing and accepting yourself is the first step towards self-confidence. By accepting yourself you can understand that all people are not the same, neither are all human conditions suitable for everyone. And it is absolutely ok to be who you are. We all are different with unique characteristics and behavior. Accepting the flaws and embracing the real you is the foremost step to gain self-confidence in you. Your uniqueness is where your power and success lie. You won’t be comfortable and positive in all conditions all the time, however, having high self-esteem will help you to cope with any situation.

Albert Einstein said, “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”

Stop labeling yourself as shy, weak, or dumb: When you label yourself as shy, weak, or dumb, your subconscious mind act accordingly, and psychologically it feels inclined to live up to those expectations. Rather than labeling and absorbing negative self-talk, imagine and affirm yourself as confident and bold. Close your eyes for a minute and visualize yourself in a different position as you would desire to be.

Experts consider that positive affirmation and good mental health practices like visualizing yourself succeeding or achieving a goal can lead to greater awareness of self-confidence and serve you to achieve success & overcome any failures.

Follow your Hobbies that you love doing: Whether it is playing a musical instrument, reading a book, going for a walk, or painting, do what you enjoy and what makes you truly happy usually. It will boost your self-confidence, calm you and allow you to identify your strengths and skills. That will in turn support your self-belief and build your confidence exponentially. You might not become famous for doing what you love. Being famous doesn’t make you happy; doing what you enjoy does.

Keep Smiling: One positive step to instantly boost your confidence is a smile. Experts say that flashing those pretty, pearly white teeth will immediately make you look both confident and composed. But, the outcome of smiling is not just visible. Studies show that smiling can also help in boosting positive feelings and grant the way for a peaceful and more relaxed you.

Confront Your Fears: The best way to build your confidence is by facing your fears head-on. Practice facing some of your fears that lack self-confidence. If you’re afraid you’ll confuse yourself or you think that you’re going to mess up, try it anyway. Tell yourself it’s just an experiment and let's see what happens. You might learn that being a little worried or making a few mistakes isn’t as bad as you imagined. And each time you move ahead, you can get more self-confidence in yourself, which will help you from taking any risks that will result in any major negative outcomes. Facing your fears and trying difficult things will ultimately boost confidence in yourself.

Surround Yourself With Positive People: Give attention to how your buddies make you feel. Do your friends encourage you or bring you down? Are they continually judging you or do they accept you for who you are? The people you spend time with impact your feelings and attitudes about yourself more than you think. If you feel bad about yourself after spending time with a particular person, it may be time to minimize spending time with them. Be with people who love you for who you are and want the best for you.

HOW CAN A MENTAL WELLNESS COACH HELP RESOLVE CONFLICTS BETWEEN COUPLES.

Let’s start with a general question that a therapist asks all the couples in the first meeting. “How’s your relationship going with your spouse or partner? Are you both struggling to have a thriving relationship?

If you are in the midst of a relationship struggle or crisis, you may be working to address the problem on your own. There is nothing wrong there; normally, you stay committed to getting a solution for your relationship. However, it is better not to wait too long before actively working on your problems with the guidance of a mental wellness coach.

So, next, is when to seek relationship counseling?

Many people assume that you should only seek relationship counseling after detachment or divorce is looming. But that is often too late. Relationship counseling should start as soon as the obstacles get in the way of your regular life.
Here are some signs that you might avail from a consultation:

You have difficulty in expressing your emotions to each other

You have one or more unsolvable conflict

There is ignorance, criticism, or disrespect in your interactions

You face challenges in making decisions together

A stressful event has moved your regular life

You felt betrayal, addiction, or behavioral issue

You want a healthy relationship

A mental Wellness Coach can help you nurture a good relationship, and it is a good strategy to fix your disputes and issues.

Here are five ways a therapist or coach can help you and your partner:

A coach can assist you to examine your concerns from scratch. Opposites attract, and you and your partner may have enjoyed each other's company from being different, but this can also cause conflict in your relationship. If your efforts to resolve problems are not working, it is smart to analyze other approaches. Sticking to your old solutions may only lead you into a never-ending cycle of conflict. A mental wellness coach can offer you a different perspective to prevent fights, manage them to the extent of the disagreement, and address them afterward to heal your pain or resolve your frustration or anger.

They can motivate you to express yourself more sensitively. Anger, frustration, and hurt may have made you stop talking to each other. Avoiding your problems by not talking is a big problem. Talking is the only solution for clarity and peace between couples! It can break down the barrier you have created between you. Communicating is essential for a healthy relationship, but it has to be the kind of talk that nurtures positive interaction. A counselor can help improve your communication. Quality talking and interactions can suggest opinions and restore trust and respect, which are the core of a loving relationship.

They can assist you to work on your issues without getting panicked. When you are overloaded with multiple emotions, it is natural to panic about what lies ahead and hard to identify what is so valuable in your relationship.
A coach can help you see or recall the strength to sort through the things that you need to work on fixing your relationship.

They can help you identify the reasons for constant conflict. You and your partner may have become so entangled in constant fights and your feelings that it is difficult for you to identify what usually leads to it. A coach is furnished with effective tools that can help you understand the signs of an imminent conflict. With their help, you can minimize if not dodge toxic confrontations.

Most importantly, they can assist you to improve your bonding and your relationship. If you both are willing to do what it takes, one thing is for sure, it's all because there is love. It may have been blurred out by your temporary conflicts and issues, so you need to work on them to make that love and commitment take center stage again. Your coach can help you see things in a different light by speaking, accepting each other’s flaws and faults, and working on ways to fix old problems and block new ones from growing too intense.

Last Words:

Deciding to go for couple counseling can be tough. If you have a disturbed relationship, however, seeking help is more effective than overlooking your problems or expecting them to get better on their own. While in sessions, your coach might give you homework or ask you to try new techniques of communication and interaction in between appointments. It's going to take time and effort, but remember one thing that it is worth it.

Working Women’s mental health during the Pandemic AKA ‘New Normal.’

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the lives of working professionals all over the globe. Although the continuing crisis is affecting both women and men equally, working women are facing exceptional difficulties.

Even if the death rate has been twice higher for men than for women, the Covid-19 pandemic has affected women more than men, both at work and at home. This blog aims to observe mental health and the struggle of women in the COVID outbreak.

Certainly, the pandemic has taken a massive toll on the daily lives of many working women. Flexible hours comforted the workflow initially but eventually, it distorted personal life, balancing work life and home became a major challenge. In that case, organizations should take a step ahead by promoting work-life balance and flexible work patterns to avoid difficulty in reaching gender equality in the workplace.

Women and Mental Health During Pandemic

An additional toll on women's mental health addressed about a lot of women having to leave the job to take care of children or other family members at home, or are dealing with an incredible and consistent juggling act of children, plus career, plus household chores and other responsibilities. With the build-up of responsibilities, like homeschooling or caring for in-laws, it becomes harder for women to care for themselves, which in turn affects their mental health.

For those struggling with anxiety, depression, or other mental health issues, you are not alone. Support & Assistance is available, and part of restoring a sense of stability is taking time to care for oneself during an unusual experience of social isolation, continued effort, and grief.

There are things a woman can do to manage work-life balance during the COVID-19 pandemic like:
  • Seeking help from other colleagues in work to reduce the pressure.
  • Keeping due time for self-care.
  • Creating a dedicated area for workspace.
  • If you are a mother, involving your children in your planning can be helpful.
  • Prioritizing tasks from the first place allows versatility.
  • Staying organized.

Working women can easily overcome mental health issues during pandemics and adopt a new normal by simply following some quick steps mentioned below:

Practice the Art of Self-Care

When you have a full-time job, or you are a mom, sometimes self-care doesn’t ever make its way to the top of the to-do list. During this tough time in a pandemic, with stress running high, it is more important to take care of your physical and mental health. We have to learn how to manage ourselves, to simply get through this. Because this is definitely a marathon and not a race.

Many of us did not expect the pandemic to stay as long as it is, so why not take care of ourselves in the meantime and come out more energetic?

Activities such as walking, listening to music, talking to a therapist, journaling, and developing a uniform sleep pattern are ways you can have both for your physical and mental health.

Plan a Solo Day Out

Everyone likes to have a personal space, despite the chaos around them. Nothing can be as great as a day out without any daily routine work. Plan a weekend with yourself and have a guilt-free day out. Certainly, self-time is a hypothetical concept in our rigid lives. Yet, it is one of the few ways to restore some much-needed headspace, which may clarify why a growing squad of women is exploring the world alone. While it would be simple to suggest that this kind of solo trip resolves every problem, it does hold a boat of benefits that encourage positive mental health.

Connect With People

Socializing is one of the best ways to understand yourself and it also helps in releasing happy hormones oxytocin and serotonin. The talent to make new connections, whether with your next-door neighbor or a street vendor in town, is an essential stage of happiness. Connecting with people helps to overlook temporary moods and feelings. So, never get disconnected from your chosen ones by considering your busy and hectic schedule as the highest priority. Speaking over the phone or just meeting for a coffee is all you need to have a happy and peaceful mind.

To conclude, it is imperative to carry in mind that the COVID-19 crisis is just worsening current gender biases. Policymakers and organizations should consider a gender strategy when making important choices during and after the pandemic, including the improvement of mental health and wellbeing in the workplace. As women are undergoing mental health effects of the pandemic to a higher extent than men due to job loss and the pressures of balancing work and house responsibilities. If you feel you are struggling with your mental health, there is no shame in reaching out to a Mental Wellness Coach for guidance and better support.
